Dealing With A Slot Hog

Many players all over the state have run into this animal one time or another while playing in a casino. The animal referred to here are not eh doves nor the rare birds kept in cages above the casino floor. This type of animal roams the gaming floor looking for two or more clot machine that they can play all to themselves. This is what gamers call a slot hog.

Slot hogs are players whose sole intent is to try to win at the slots by coveting two to three machines and playing them at the same time while the casino floor is crowded. These hogs usually play the machines on either side of them and refuse to give them up to anyone that ones to play.

Sometimes the slot hog focuses on the main slot machine and occasionally puts coins in the ones next to them. They believe that once the machine becomes 'hot", it would pay off very soon. If not, then the machines beside the slot machine would be the ones to give the payout. These slot pigs believe that by playing three machines simultaneously, they would hit the jackpot.

Slot hogs hate other players who try to play their machines and often engage in verbal assaults when a player asks to pay at their machines. Slot hogs are not very common in areas like Las Vegas for there are hundreds of machines to choose from. These animals only thrive in locations that have few casinos and even limited number of machines.

Many casinos post warnings or signs that advocate a one player per slot machine policy but slot hogs blatantly ignore these useless signs. Some casinos have attendants that actively reprimand slot hogs but this is not always the case. Many players who are out to enjoy themselves get a verbal bashing when they encounter such beasts.

A similar example of a slot hog is a companion of a player who sits in the machine next to their playing friend and drops a coin once in a while to justify their seat at the machine.

Players who encounter such a beast may try the following suggestions:

Politely ask the person if they would like to share the machine with you. Sometimes the best way to make it work would be to ask with a smile. Sometimes this method works. Sometimes it does not.

Another option would be to walk away and look for another vacant machine. If no other machines are vacant and the hog's machine is really the only one left, players can ask the help of the attendants to force the hog to give up the machine. Be aware that hogs tend to retaliate by making grunting noises or blowing cigarette smoke in ones direction.

Some would readily surrender their other machines and even engage in a pleasant conversation. Players should always remember that playing beside a slot hog is not a fun thing.
